Okay, well at church we have been studying the book of Ruth and it has always been one of my favorite books of the bible. But one thing has always kind of baffled me about this story. Ruth actually goes and places herself before Boaz. She is the one who takes the initiative and lets him know that she has chosen him to be her kinsman redeemer. Of course this is at the advice of an older person, she knows Boaz has shown her favor, and he is a relative and able to fulfill the role of kinsman redeemer. So given those things I can see that Naomi would have told her to do such a thing however I still don't understand the concept.
I guess really this all comes from me studying the bible and different books by Christian authors and have come to the conclusion that the man is supposed to take initiative in a relationship. And I guess this wouldn't bother me if I weren't for the fact that I am in a situation right now that would be affected by the way I approach things. I currently really like this guy, and we are good friends. However I think that he doesn't view our relationship as going anywhere else. I know that he is the man I want to marry but nothing is happening. So do I wait and see what happens and take a chance that this relationship goes no where or do I take the initiative and possibly mess up what is there in the first place??
Well I guess that really in writing I find I answer my own questions. I really think that the whole point of this is to be patient. If there is supposed to be anything between me in this guy God will take care of it. I really think that the whole purpose of Ruth going to see Boaz was to tell him that her time of morning was over. He still had to take the initiative because he had to go and make sure that the other people who were more eligible didn't want to be the Kinsman redeemer. Also really he did quite a bit of work to make her his wife. I can't imagine having to track people down and make sure they didn't want to marry the person you want to marry.
Anyway I think it is funny how God will answer your questions when you least expect it. He always hears our prayers and always gives us an answer even if it is something we don't want to hear.
