The Purpose of a Friend

This weekend I have been going through old pictures and thinking about all of the people who have come in and out of my life. Each one of them has impacted my life in some way even if it was just for a moment.

I think each one of them has purpose too. Sometimes you can see that purpose like with my friend Brian, because of our friendship my sister met her husband. Others you may wonder exactly what purpose they served for ever. Still others will serve multiple purposes over and over again.

Another thing that surprises me is that some people are your friends for life, even if your lives end up taking you thousands of miles apart. Other friendships come and go before you even realize they are gone. Still others leave with a big bang and lot of pain. When you first meet a person you don'twhich category they will fall into and sometimes you are very surprised by the outcome.

All this said I believe that God brings each and every person into our lives for a reason. Maybe we need to learn from them, or perhaps they are there because we need to speak into to their lives. Sometimes we might even have the "pleasure" of having to call the actions of one of our friends on the carpet, or better yet they have to do that for us. No matter what it is there a purpose and a plan. Things don't always end up the way we plan and there are surprises around every corner. We just need to seek God's face and ask what are the purposes of our friendships.

"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity" Proverbs 17:17

"Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses." Proverbs 27:6
