The last few days the weather has been quite weird and wet. All day it is a beautiful sunny day and then all the sudden about 3:30 in the afternoon a random roll of thunder occurs and the heavens open up and pour down for about 10 minutes. I know in coastal areas this random rainstorm pattern occurs quite alot, however around here we usually have ample warning of pending weather.
When the freak rainstorm began today I was a bit upset because I was getting ready to take the dogs for a walk. So instead of stewing over my ruined plans I decided to take the opportunity to worship. I decided to turn on some worship music and instead of singing like I always do I began to dance. I spun and twirled, kicked and leaped all over the living room. I am sure anyone who happened to be driving by at that moment thought I was totally crazy, I am not a dancer.
At first it is was an odd feeling to dance before the Lord, but once I got over the worry of not being able to dance I had a freedom in worship that I haven't experienced before. Dancing opened my heart to the Lord in a new way, I came to him worshiping in my weakness instead of my strength. He met me in that place of humility in a way that I don't experience when I am singing. It is hard to explain but I know without a doubt that God was singing over me in that moment.
"Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him with tambourine and harp."
Psalm 149:3
