25 going on 13

Oh my goodness! Having four thirteen year old girls staying the night at my house was a real test of Patience. I love the girls dearly however I am glad I am no longer 13. But it is funny how things never really change. We sat around in our PJ's, ate junk food, had ice cream, danced to songs on the radio, and the main topic of discussion was boys. Funny enough these are the same things that my girl friends and I do to this day.

I find there are times in this life when it is just good to stop for a moment and see life from the view of a child. When you thought money was always around, you didn't have any bills to pay, there was no stress, and the biggest event of the day was that the boy you liked said hi to you in the hall. You trusted what people said because you hadn't learned anything different and getting an A in Math was your greatest challenge. I was reminded this week to take life one day at a time, to thank God for all of those little things that bring such joy, and to appreciate all that I have been given and value the things my parents taught me.

I am amazed each day by the wonder and glory of God's creation. I am reminded over and over again of how truly blessed I am. I am glad that I have an opportunity to be a part of these girls lives no matter how challenging it may become at times. I have a chance to show them that a young woman can be a woman of God and still have fun. Being a Christian isn't about rules and regulations it is about a relationship with a living and true God. We are loved beyond anything we could ever ask or imagine. And though the subject my always come around to boys I can teach them that boys may come and go but our Lord never leaves us or forsakes us. That we are not made complete by having a boyfriend we are made complete by accepting the wonderful gift Christ has bought for us. The gift of Salvation.

"O my people, hear my teaching: listen to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter hidden things, things from of old - what we have heard and know, what our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done."
Psalm 78:1-4
