This week is National Turn Off Your TV Week! It was made to help encourage parents and kids to turn off the TV and do something productive with the time they usually spend watching TV. Our school is encouraging students to play outside or read a book.
Although I wasn't going to intentionally observe this week I have already fallen into it. Tonight I didn't turn on the TV as I usually do around 6. Instead I spent all evening cleaning. And if you know me you know how amazing that is! Sad enough in about 3 hours time I only managed to clean my living room and office space. It was that disgusting. Tomorrow night I am attacking my bedroom and bathroom so wish me luck!!
I am always amazed at exactly how much time I waste each week watching television. So I think I am going to stick with my TV ban for the week. Though I am going to break the rules a bit and watch LOST and Grey's Anatomy. But nothing else. Unfortunately 2 hours is way less than my normal viewing time during the week. I may actually get my book "How to Achieve Discipline with Dignity in the Classroom" read this week as well.
