The last few days I have been pondering the power there is in a single word. This word has the power encourage. The power to tear down. The power to change a life for the good or the bad. It has has the power to give life and take it away. It can give freedom or imprisionment. It can even decide the fate of a nation.
This word is one we use everyday many times over and yet rarely stop to ponder exactly what it means. It can show the purity of our hearts or mask what we don't want anyone to see. It can put a smile on our face and cause us to dance for joy, or it can send us sobing and looking for answers.
Said with out thinking this word can put us in a compromising position. Even when contemplated for a long time we still may question its use. Then again being said on the spur of the moment it can change our lives so radically that we never want to look back. It can bring joy and pain, love and hate, miricles and tragedy. All of this from on little word.
What is this word that has such power. A power that trancends all languages and cultures. The simple word is yes. Who would ever have thought that three little letters could have such power. This word has helped mold who I have become. It has been the word that has made some of the most important decisions in my life and yet I never have taken the time to really think about what it has ment.
The word yes is powerful on its own but there is one question that when yes is answered your life will never be the same again. God is calling us. He is drawing us near. He is asking for our lives, for our heart, for our souls. Will you say yes to him? Will to whole heartedly say "Yes Lord, I will follow you no matter what the cost. Yes, I choose to love you! I choose to worship you! I choose to listen to your voice calling my name." There is not a word that can have more power than saying yes to God.
I have said yes and it has made all the difference in my life. I have said yes to the truth of Jesus Christ, God made flesh, who came to earth, died to bear the punshiment for my sins, then conqured death with his resurrection and he reigns at the right hand of the Father. I have said yes to the Holy Spirit reigning in me, guiding me and counceling me everyday. I have said yes to allowing God to love me and to loving him in return. This one yes, has shaped my very being and is continuing to do so.
What will you say yes too?
