Music Education = $$$

Okay, so that equation doesn't really work if you are the music teacher. However, I was surfing around tonight and found this article. It talks about a new survey that shows that more that 80% of people who make over $150,000 a year had some kind of formal music training in their background.

As I read the article it seemed to make alot of sense. For one, people with a higher education tend to come from educated families which have more disposable spending money in order to pay for music lessons. Second, music teaches so many disciplines and requires the student to focus, listen, work with others, and effectively multitask all of the time. These are all traits that can easily be transferred to any situation to help make a person more successful in the job market.

Of course I am going to be an advocate for music education since I teach music. But as the article said "That's the beauty of music, that they can bring both hard work and enjoyment together, which doesn't always happen elsewhere."

Very cool indeed. I know early music lessons boost both reading and math... not to mention making faster learners all together. :)

Hmmm... wonder what the stats would be of people that have music education and use it to fuel intercession???
