It Pays to Read the Manual!

So I just bought a new vacuum cleaner last month since the one I had finally died. I bought one that is specifically for pet owners because it is supposed to be more effective at picking up pet hair. With 2 dogs and 2 cats running around my house picking up pet hair is a MUST!

Since I bought the vacuum in December I have been very impressed with how amazingly well it has worked. I was singing it's praises, that is until last week. Lindsay was vacuuming the house and about half way through the room it shut off and wouldn't come back on. Well then when I got home it turned on just fine so we thought it was just a fluke. Yesterday, the same thing happened. I was beginning to worry that I was going to have to take it back, so I began the search for the Wal-Mart receipt.

Why is it that when you are looking for something you can find everything else but what you are looking for? That is exactly what happened with this receipt. I searched for about an hour last night and then again tonight. Finally I found it at the bottom of a pile with receipts from September and October. How it got there I will never know.

So after hunting down the receipt I decided that I needed to register the vacuum online just in case because on the yellow sheet inside the manual it said not to return the machine to the store. So I sit down and fill out all the info to register the item online. That's another thing I hate, they always ask the weirdest questions like what are your hobbies.

After I finished the registration I got the bright idea to read the troubleshooting section of the manual. Why I didn't think of this earlier is another thing I will never know. Anyway, I read the manual and discovered that my vacuum has a thermal sensor to keep the machine from overheating. So I sit down and check the vacuum out to discover there was a small piece of wood lodged in the tube where it goes into the canister. After removing that I turned the vacuum on then had to take it apart again and removed a hand full of hair. So I switched it back on again and all of the sudden the canister was full of hair. A good double fists worth! Needless to say now my vacuum works great and I know without a doubt it picks up a ton of hair!!

What kind of vac is it? Mine is dying a slow and painful death, so I am beginning the search. :)
