Impressive

Typically the word impressive brings positive thoughts to mind. You think of things that average people don't accomplish like someone climbing Mount Everest or winning the Boston Marathon. Ninety percent of the time the word impressive is good but when it is spoke the other ten percent you really don't want to hear it. Maybe you were in and accident and the insurance adjuster says your car looks impressive or the words are uttered from the lips of your doctor while referring to your particular infirmity.

The later scenario accrued to me today. On Saturday my bother, sister-in-law, and I went geocaching. Of course with the nature of the sport you are out roaming through wooded areas that most other people don't travel. As always I had my eyes open for poison ivy. 99% of the time I manage to avoid it but apparently I ran into some invisible plant. Sunday a rash on my arm started and as the week progressed it got worse and then I started breaking out on my legs and stomach. Today I had finally had it and went to the doctor. When she came in and looked at the spot on my arm her only words were "Impressive." Needless to say I ended up getting a cortisone shot and for some reason I had a fever of over 100. I thought you only ran a fever if the rash got infected, which its not. Though it could be from a combination of fighting this rash and the fact that my cat bit me Monday night.

Yes, I said my cat bit me. Sweet Boaz sunk his teeth into the back of my thigh earlier this week. Of course he has been out of sorts the last few weeks from all the packing and changes happening around here but I never would have imagined this. I was putting an old stereo in a bag so that I could get rid of it. The only thing that still worked were the speakers so I wasn't going to mess with moving it. While I was putting the stereo in a bag the plastic sides were rubbing together and making an awful screeching sound. Boaz jumped up on top of the bag and started hissing. I thought it was kind of weird but I just took him and threw him on the floor then turned and picked the bag back up. When I picked the bag up it made the screeching sound again and he next thing I know Boaz had jumped up and bitten my leg. I was so shocked! I went to the bathroom to get a tissue to stop the bleeding, which by now was running all the way down my leg. As I was sitting on the edge of the tub Boaz walked in and I think he realized what he had done. He laid down by my feet and looked up at me with saddest eyes I have seen. It was as if he was saying he was so sorry and didn't realize he was biting me. Of course I kind of freaked out a bit when I read online that 80% of cat bites become infected. So I called my mom to see if I should go the the ER cause it was 10pm. We decided that I should just clean it well and watch it for the next few days. So I doused it with peroxide, wiped it down with rubbing alcohol, and put neosporin on it. It actually has healed up pretty well. Boaz is still a little weary of all the changes but no more freaky stuff has happened.

It has been so long since I wrote and so much has happened this week! I have a crazy story to tell about getting my new apartment today, but since this is getting quite lengthy I will save that adventure for later.
