Today I had a total blond moment! After lunch on Thursdays I have a planning time. Since today was picture day I had to go have my picture taken. After that I went back to my class and worked on a few small things getting ready for my next class. I looked up at the clock at about 1:20 and thought "I guess my class is going to be a little late, maybe they are having to do their pictures." 1:30 came by and they still weren't there. Finally at 1:45 my class came in the door. So I calculate that there is only 20 minutes left in my class. I tell the kids that we have work fast today because they were late and we don't have alot of time to get things done. So we rush through the lesson, and the kids were amazing and managed to pick up everything in only 20 minutes. So it is 2:10 and we line up. We stand there playing the quite game for about 5 minutes and I begin to wonder where their teacher is. So I decided I would walk the kids down to their class myself since it is the end of the day anyway. I get them all outside, my class is in a portable building, and we are almost inside the main building when I look at my phone and see it is 2:15. I think to myself "Wait a second we still have 45 minutes until school gets out, they don't go back this early!" I realized tat my first grade class is from 1:45 to 2:40! I still had 20 minutes of my class left, they weren't late at all they had come at the right time! I made the kids turn around and go back into the room and let them finish Peter Pan which we had started last week when I was sick, since we had rushed through the lesson and thy had been so good.
I have never in my life ended my class 30 minutes early! Given all of my classes before lunch start at 15 after and end at 10 after is partly why I didn't think anything of them leaving at 10 after the hour. Also the clock in my classroom is a regular clock face and not digital so I just look at the minute hand and don't really pay attention to the hour. That's why it didn't hit me as to what time it actually was until I looked at the time on my phone. But it was still pretty funny! And the kids were excited to be able to finish their movie too!
