Can you really call it a talent show when only about 3 of the performers are actually talented at what they are doing? And why is it that the kids who can sing don't and the ones who can 't do? Yesterday we had our annual talent show at school. It took an hour and a half and most of it seemed like the auditions for American Idol.
As I was watching each act I began wondering if this the reason so many people try out for American Idol, think they can sing, but in reality are fooling themselves. We all them to stand up in front of hundreds of people and perform poorly and tell them they were wonderful. I am part of this problem. I can't stand to break a child's heart or their dream of becoming a singer when they can't carry a tune in a bucket. Then I think they are only kids and maybe they will get better as they get older. And even as bad as they may sound or as strange as the dance may seem they are really cute. And I suppose if they one of your kids you would would be proud no matter what they did. I don't know cause I don't have my own kids.
