A Grassy Blessing!

God is so good. He provides for our every need. As some you know the house I live in belongs to some friends who are missionaries over seas. I have been living in their house now for almost two years, and although I know it is a huge blessing for them it has been a challenge for me. I have all the responsibilities of owning a home and none of the perks.

The biggest head ache has been keeping up with the maintenance of the house. Being a busy, working, single girl makes it hard to do thing like fix the toilet, fix the back fence, or mow the yard when the lawn mower is broken. I grew up in a house where my daddy was the handyman so it is hard to pay someone to come and do all those seemingly simple chores. Plus I really don't have much extra money lying around to pay someone to do those things either.

However, as always God has provided and it has come in the form of one of the most servant hearted men I know. Larry Foster has committed to being my fix-it guy. He called me up and told me as his part of supporting Tim and Lindsay that he would take care of the lawn and fix things around the house! Today he has spent the better part of 6 hours cleaning up my yard and taking care of little things around the house!

Larry and his wife are two of the most amazing servant hearted people I know. They put in so much time and energy and never expect anything in return! They do it for the glory of God. They are such a blessing to me and many others!

Keeping up with a house can be a huge hassle, it's so great that someone is helping you!

I'll second that!

I actually could train myself to enjoy doing most of the odd jobs after some practice (although that in itself was time consuming since there was a learning curve involved, laying insulation or brazing copper tubing etc.), some chores were so habitual they were like breathing. There's good and bad being the keeper of the "castle".

I really can't properly judge, but it seems to me that your cost of living is actually comparatively high, when taking into account normal monthly expenses. If so, you might seek various alternatives. Sorry I don't have any "scoops" that might help.

the cost of living is rapidly on the rise here, and the pay for jobs here is not....
