"One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple."
Psalm 27:4
"My heart says of you, 'Seek his face! Your face, Lord, I will seek."
Psalm 27:8
For the longest time I have always been fascinated by nature. I love to look at the intricacies of a leaf or a flower. I guess that is why I have always loved photography above all other forms of art. Photography honestly captures God's creation and in a small way captures a glimpse of God's beauty itself.
God created us to be fascinated by him and to captivated by beauty. However, in this world we have so distorted true beauty. We place restrictions upon what we deem as beautiful. Yet, God sees all of his creation as beautiful because we reflect his beauty. Our value isn't found in what others think about us, whether they find us beautiful or fascinating it is found in Christ. To Christ we are beautiful and fascinating. We are his bride and he is enthralled by our beauty.
We should in the same way be captivated by the beauty of Christ. Like David said in the Psalms the One thing I seek is to see the beauty of the Lord. Just as his heart cried out to seek God's so our hearts are crying for the same thing. Will you heed the cry or will you try to ignore it and fill it with the temporary fascination and beauty the world provides?
I am not saying that I am perfect, that I don't get distracted and fill my life with temporary things that don't last. All know is that when I do heed to the cry of my heart to seek God's face, I find him. The joy and wonder that ensues can never be equaled and the more I seek Him the more I desire to be with Him where he is. And in turn the more I reflect his true beauty to the world around me.
