A State of Emergency??

Apparently, even though Ike is hundreds of miles away from Arkansas, the governor of Arkansas has declared a state of emergency due to the probable hike in gas prices because of hurricane Ike. I love it when the government give gas stations an excuse to raise gas prices. It is ridiculous! As I came home tonight, after seeing a movie with a friend, I was keeping my eye on the gas prices and actually found one place at $3.59 so I turned around and went there. The crazy thing is that just down from my place one gas station had the price listed as $3.99 and across the street it was $3.69. What I don't understand are the people who are at the place with gas at %3.99when it 30 cents a gallon cheaper literally across the street!

The only thing I can think is "does this expensive station sell 100% gas?" Don't know what the rules are in Arkansas for that. We got gas yesterday at $3.45 and it was 100% gas too. :-)

No they don't, they have 10% ethanol and actually the place I got it for $3.59 sales 100% gas. I don't know it is weird!

mmmm....how odd. Anyway, gas prices did go up today...the gas station we got gas at $3.45 yesterday is now at $3.62 and QT is at $3.59 today after they raised it from $3.43 yesterday.

Here is one thought behind the state of emergency declaration. In Oklahoma anyway, no one can raise prices more than 10% during a state of emergency without it being considered price gouging. So maybe that's the case in Arkansas as well. But that still allows like a 35 cent increase!
